 | The Marsh Course provides an
option of completing the race with about 17 miles total. After the
start at Huguenot Park, competitors will proceed up the Fort George
River and into Simpson Creek. They will be required to check in at the check point on the dock at Long Island
Outfitters/Kayak Amelia as they go north to the checkpoint at the north end of Little Talbot near the north entry to
Simpson Creek. They must also check in again on the southward paddle
to return to the finish at the lagoon at Huguenot Park. To see the map of the race

 | The Short Marsh Course
-- Race from Huguenot Park to Long Island Outfitters/Kayak
Amelia and back -- only 9 miles total. After the start, competitors will proceed up the Fort George
River and into Simpson Creek. They will be required to check in at the check point on the dock at Long Island
Outfitters, turn around there and return to the Start/Finish area at

 | The Ft George River Course --
Paddle from Huguenot Park to the Ft George River's intersection with
Simpson Creek and back -- only about 4.5 miles total. After the start, competitors will proceed up the Fort George
River and to Simpson Creek. They will be required to check in at the check point
on the shore, turn around there and return to the Start/Finish area at
Huguenot Park lagoon. To see the map of the race

 | Competitors need to check in at Long Island Outfitters each
time they pass that point during the race.
Participants must paddle to each check point and return
to the Finish to complete the race and be eligible for awards. |
 | Racers are allowed to beach their kayaks for
short rests at any point the participant feels is safe, though the
race time clock will continue. This will also allow participation in
this event by individuals of all levels of skill and physical ability. |
 | Start/Finish and Long Island Outfitters locations
will provide drinks and snack food for the participants. Land-based
communications will be possible from those locations. |
 | Participants are responsible for their ability to
follow the race course of their choice. Participants are responsible
for bringing along an adequate first aid kit for each kayak or canoe
and are urged to carry a fully charged cell
phone in (a waterproof container) for emergency communications. |
 | Participants may end their racing in the event at the
Long Island Outfitters' location at any time, though they will not be
eligible for prizes if withdrawing there.
If planning to withdraw there, participants should make prior
arrangements for transportation. |
 | Awards - There will be
prizes three deep in three categories, for both males and females:
 | the Touring/Sea Kayak Category, |
 |
the Sit-on-Top Category of kayaks, |
 | Tandem Kayak Category |
 | the Canoe Category. |

 | Make a Difference -
There will also be a prize for the "boat" that brings in the
highest amount of additional donations for our designated charities.
Contributions for these non-profit charities are tax deductible.
Separate donation checks may be made out to Climb for Cancer
Foundation and
should be turned in at the registration/Check-in desk at Huguenot Park
prior to starting the race.
